Weld County covers almost 4,000 square miles in north central Colorado.
It is bordered on the north by Wyoming and Nebraska and on the south by
the Denver metropolitan area. It is the third largest county in Colorado
with nearly 220,000 residents. Weld County has a variety of small to medium
sized towns. Greeley is the county seat and largest community, with almost
half of the county’s population. Weld County is home to 19 incorporated
communities. Located within a 60-mile radius of Greeley are five major universities.
The climate is dry and generally mild with warm summers and mild winters.
Elevations in the county range from 4,400 to 5,000 feet. Weld County’s
economy is rooted in agri-industry and food processing. The county ranks
as the third leading agricultural area in the United States. Weld County
is Colorado's leading producer of cattle, grain and sugar beets, and is
the second leading region in Colorado in the production of oil and gas.
Abundant natural resources, including water, add to the desirability of
the County.
Weld County has an excellent, affordable, regional labor pool; well developed
commercial/industrial sites with ready access; and a local business climate
which is conducive to growth.

In each of the cities within Weld County, the respective city handles
tax rates. On a case-by-case basis, Weld municipalities may partially
waive local sales/use tax on eligible equipment, construction materials,
etc. Some of these cities are under the Home Rule City guidelines. The
Colorado Department of Revenue does NOT collect sales tax for home rule
