As Your Regional Business Powerhouse the Metro North Chamber is uniquely positioned to work with all types and sizes of businesses to provide access, education and information to a wide variety of programs, benefits and people. Our commitment remains steadfast in advancing the economic vitality of the Metro North region.
The Metro North Chamber is committed to growing our membership and their business opportunities, whether through successfully lobbying business issues at the Capitol or connecting through networking.I am excited to report that in 2007 we had 50 hard working Ambassadors and many respective city officials welcome 67 new businesses into the community through ribbon cuttings and grand opening celebrations…that’s almost one every five days! The Metro North Chamber Leads Groups help both new and established businesses grow and prosper as evidenced by the nearly 1700 leads and referrals passed by members of our five Leads Groups over the past year.Business After Hours (BAH) proved to be an excellent venue to establish business contacts for our membership with over 2,200 Chamber members attending the monthly business to business opportunity!
In addition to the success of the many programs within the Chamber, we have also seen consistent growth and record setting numbers in all of our major events. Our 39th Annual Golf Tournament attracted 40 teams, nearly 200 people brushed off the old sneakers for the Chamber Challenge 5K, and more than 3500 people brought their appetites to the 7th Annual Taste of the Chamber.
Following the trend of success, the Business & Governmental Affairs (BGA) Committee, the lobbying arm of the Chamber, had a great year as well. The BGA Committee took positions on over 40 bills during the legislative session, interviewed 18 candidates for state legislative office and in partnership with the MetroNorth Newspapers held a candidate forum which was televised on Cable Channel 8.The Chamber’s Development Council stepped up access to information and education through its breakfast series, including the ever popular annual Mayors’ Roundtable, covering topics including education, transportation and health care.
As we carry the momentum of 2007 into the New Year, we look forward to an even more exciting 2008. On behalf of the Metro North Chamber Board of Directors and the Chamber staff, thank you for your continued support of the programs and partners in the Metro North Chamber. As always, the growth of your business is our pride.
